How  I began

My name is Wang Bo, and my Shaolin Temple monk name is Shi Yanwu. I go by Wang Bo as a promise I made to my mother. I was born in a small farming village in Shandong, China, the youngest of three children. My parents worked tirelessly in the fields, but they always gave us love and encouragement. At the age of three, I began learning Baji Kung Fu from my father, and it quickly became my passion. When I was five, my father made a great sacrifice - selling part of our farm so that my brother and I could attend a special Kung Fu school in the city, nearly 35 miles from our home.

A Shaolin Story

Millions dream of training at the Shaolin Temple - the birthplace of Kung Fu. At eight years old, I was one of the fortunate few chosen to live and train there. The day I was accepted, I fainted from excitement and left a scar on my forehead, which I still carry as a reminder of that joy.

Life at the temple was strict and demanding, but also filled with peace and purpose. Each day began at 5:00 a.m. with an hour and a half of chanting and meditation, praying for peace, wisdom, and spiritual clarity. We trained eight hours a day, without weekends or breaks, in sun, snow, and rain. Our food was simple and vegetarian, made from the herbs and vegetables grown in our gardens. We also studied herbal medicine, Qigong, and Buddhism, and helped care for the temple grounds.

There were moments of hardship and lessons I’ll never forget. Once, as a boy, I got lost on Shaoshi Mountain during training. I returned to the temple late at night, exhausted and afraid. My master only said, “Getting lost is part of training,” then walked away. At that moment, I cried out of anger and confusion, but those words would later shape my life.

By the age of nine, I was chosen to join the Shaolin Temple’s ambassador team. I traveled to more than 45 countries, performing Kung Fu, sharing Buddhism, and meeting world leaders such as Queen Elizabeth II of England and King Juan Carlos I of Spain.

Bringing Tradition Forward

In 2008, I moved to Los Angeles, where I faced the challenge of beginning a new life in a foreign land. Just as in my Shaolin years, every difficulty became a form of training - shaping my strength, patience, and understanding.

Today, my mission is to share the wisdom of Temple culture and traditional Chinese practices in a way that supports modern living. I continue this legacy through the Power Flow Herbal Patch, a formula handcrafted with 25 natural herbs inspired by traditional Shaolin methods.

Alongside this work, I offer workshops in Buddhism, meditation, Tai Chi, and Shaolin Kung Fu - creating spaces where people can experience the connection between body, breath, and mind, and discover the timeless principles of inner balance and discipline.
